I’ve heard of youth development programs, but what are they?
‘I believe the children are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way’. A great Whitney Houston once said and was right. We all wish for a better future and a better world for our kids but for that to happen we have the responsibility to hand them the key, and that’s where youth development programmes come in. Youth development programs are set up to improve the lives of children and young people by meeting their basic physical, developmental, and social needs.
These programmes allow for young people to better themselves, whether it be socially or financially, giving them the tools to become functioning citizens of society. Not all young children are afforded the privilege of having parents to prepare them for the ins and outs of adulthood, which is why programmes such as youth development are key in ensuring the future is in the hands of well-prepared people.
There are many youth development programmes in and across the country supported by helpful individuals. Interested in volunteering your time and support? Look up and contact your local YTP or look up https://www.ukyouth.org/who-we-are/#about-us and volunteer yourself today.
